岐阜の祈り会 | Gifu Prayer Meeting

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Hi,
Seth here from Gifu, just wanted to write a bit about our prayer day. We had a bit of a small turn out and by small I mean Hannah and I. We went to Dynaland which is the resort we have been riding at this season. We prayed and did some riding and spoke with some people about the camp and rail jam. Here are some photos from our time there.

We also went to the local shop called “Freak” to tell them about the camp and comp. They seem pretty exited and have put up our poster and camp info. They are also interested in sponsoring the event.

This is Kirsty. I really dont know where to start. Can anybody begin to describe how good Our GOD is? I will do my best!
On Friday people from across Japan went up to Northstar to participate in the SFC Japan camp. We had about 50 campers altogether over the 3days. We rode all day on Friday, it was pretty warm so fun. From the afternoon the SFC team and the Northstar staff gave free lessons. Everyone had a really good time. Then back to Northstar. After dinner we had a limbo comp which one of the flexy-ist pastors in Japan almost won but victory was snatched from his hands by a younger man. Such is life! Then we had a really great time of worship, led by the Kyoto Church group and then Bruce gave a message. We divided into small groups and people really opened up and got a chance to evangelize. Ken-chan from Kyoto told me that in the course of his discussion group all the non-christians in his group said that they wanted to believe. Hallelujia!
Saturday was comp day, so most people went up to the mountain while a team from SFC/Northstar stayed back to set up. We had a prayer meeting half-way up the mountain after lunch, it was wonderful. The northstar staff set up a hospitality tent in the park during the afternoon and gave out flyers for the comp and tracts and free drinks. Lots of people stopped by and hung out.
I was a bit nervous when I arrived at Northstar, Ive been working on this camp and comp for over 6months and was hoping that people would come, but when I arrived everyone seemed to think that not that many people would show. But we’d been praying SO hard for months, 20riders signed up during the first 10 minutes of registration. There were 33riders who entered all together. We had a prayer room and a hospitality tent open during the whole event. The standard of the riders was pretty high. We had three heats and then a girls final and a guys final. It was such an awesome event. Between the heats and the finals everyone came inside and had dinner together, over 120 snowboarders chillin out at Northstar! It was SO cool. There were three girls in the girls final and our girl Moni won! There were 8guys in the the guys final. Dan’s son Anthony aged 12 was in the top eight, I was so proud of him. As were Northstar Patrick and Randall. The final was awesome, the guys really pulled out all the stops. As Patrick commented later, it was only by Gods grace that no one got hurt. Yep thats right we had zero injuries, its mad! So Patrick and a the park guy Masa from Norikura tied for first, but we gave it to Masa because we wanted a Japanese guy to win and Patrick graciously said he didnt care. It was cool because masa accepted his prize then gave it away in a rock, scissors, paper comp.
But here is the part you really want to hear……..after the final before we announced the results Travis gave his testimony. He was amazing, what he said was so simple and so easy to understand, and he was so laid back, totally glowing. During the testimony the girls gave out our tracts to everyone. Lots of us were praying while he was speaking. You could totally feel the presence of God working in people, later a snowboarder said to Dan “I could feel the heat” and man, they did. Everyone listened so intently, no one was not into it. These hungry hearts had never heard anything like this in their lives before. The next day one of them said that what Travis said had made so much sense to him. Then Pastor Koiwai from Matsumoto shared a little. And he said that if anyone wanted a Bible we had some to give out. Immediately two people screamed out “I want one” Tina, Dan’s wife was about to start giving them out, but she didnt even move one step because so many people descended on her to get one. We gave out a big bag full except two, and some people asked if they could get the english/japanese ones so we went inside to get more. It is a testimony to the power of prayer. Everyone around the world has supported us SO much in this way and we ourselves have prayed so hard for this event, Jesus said he would give us anything we ask for in prayer, he sure did. (thanks for all your prayers)
But!!!!! The story does not end there. Once everyone had gone home God had a special present ready for us. The Kyoto gang started singing praises in the lounge with their band and slowly almost everyone else joined them. Gods presence totally filled the room and everyone could feel waves of Gods love washing over us. I couldnt keep my eyes open I was so overwhelmed. Then Willy prayed and Bruce, travis and Patrick shared what God was speaking to them. And we all started praying in constantly changing groups. Loads of people made new commitments to the Lord and two of my own close friends got saved. We stayed up praying until 1 in the morning, there was so much joy and life and freedom. Hallelujia, Hallelujia, Hallelujia.
The next day everyone woke up with a smile on their face, and we had a great worship service, led by ken-chan from Kyoto.
I have never experienced anything like it in my life, I can only describe it by quoting Bruce “WOW”.
All glory to God forever, He is SO good. AMEN

The team arrived in Toyohashi on Friday afterno…

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

The team arrived in Toyohashi on Friday afternoon, and had curry party in the evening. We cooked curry together, and had nice fellowship and ping pong game! But everyone was defeated by “Canadian champion” Bruce. Today, each of them gave testimony during youth class, worship service and English service. It was such a blessing and encouraging to hear what God has been doing around the world through SFC! After the English service in the afternoon, we went to the Toyohashi station to hands out some SFC cards. And went to two snowboard shops. It was so great! We were able to talk with the people at the shop, and could explain why the team is in Japan. It was so awesome!! And at the second shop we went, they had a small ramp in front of the shop, so Willy brought his skateboard and rode with some people there. They were from Brazil, and we had chance to tell them about SFC. Some were snowboarders as well. Tonight, pastor Yamazoe invited us for dinner, and we had very nice spagetti! I love Mrs Yamazoe’s spagetti! When we were leaving from the church, pastor Yamazoe’s baby michi-kun was trying so hard not to cry… Yuuko

GIFU

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

The mission team arrived in Gifu on wednesday. On wednesday we had the coffeehouse, about 20people including us and the university students gathered to hang out and eat Yakisoba. Moni shared her testimony which was great.

On thursday the team went to pray and give out tracts and flyers at the university and to have lunch with some students. In the evening we went to watch tea ceremony and have sushi with Mrs Tomita from the church.
On Friday Michelle and Bruce went to Toyohashi to meet up with Willy and Andy from New Zealand. We just had a chilled out day here in Gifu.
Yesterday, Saturday we went to Washigatake and went snowboarding with a group of university students, the skies were blue and the park was fun. Everyone had a great time. After we got back to Gifu we had a curry rice party at Grace Chapel and then we went to the public bath. Monica wasnt too into the electric bath! Really, they shoot an electric current into the water.
Today we had lunch and church and Jesse shared his testimony.
Please pray for Travis, we really need God to heal him fast. Im sure he is frustrated that he cant do as much as he wants to.
Thanks for checking the blog, leave us a comment if you have time.
